Hi Mr. Wolf,

I read your review to which I mostly agree. I just wanted to mention that I bought several bottles of Imperial and for each one of them the cork topper broke into two pieces. It seems that the cork is not glued well enough to allow to pull the topper strongly.

Hi Ben,

Mr. Wolf is so formal, just call me Arctic or Chip. On that topper thingy, I have noted that every single person who has a bottle of the Barcelo has experienced the broken topper. Yet other than me and Pkazimer, I have seen no mention of it on review blogs. I suspect it is a recent problem with the new bottles but to me a troubling one. It speaks to a lack of attention to detail.

Part of me thinks that if I cannot trust them to put a cork on properly, what other corners have been cut.

I am glad you liked and agreed with the review. Cheers!

Hi Chip,

I agree that the cork malfunction does not inspire trust. Very nice and unique bottle though, and more importantly, I like the rum. Currently my favorite Dominican, exception made of Brugal Siglo de Oro, which is in a different class IMO. But then I only tasted Brugals and Barcelos anyway.

I bought the Imperial several times in the Cancun airport, where it was sold under 20$. I wouldn't buy it at the LCBO, where it is 50$.

one of my fav's, strong taste of toasted coconut to me. My cork and top performed admirably, but then again, it was a fast love affair so there wasn't a whole lot of off on off again.
