Rums of Central America

I would like to know what your favorite rum varietals are from the Central America region. Please, note the name and country of origin.

IMHO, I like:
Ron Zacapa XO - Guatemala
Monte Cristo 12 - Guatemala
Flor de Cana Centenario 21 - Nicaragua
Ron Centenario XX- Costa Rica

Have you tried the Flor de Caсa Centenario 18, which is older than the Centenario 21? The 21 is actually 15 years old, but not to be confused with Centenario Commemorative Edition, which is actually 21 years old....

I have tried the 18 and it is "all right". Excuse my exclusion. I was referring to the Commemorativo Edition, the special blue bottle variety. The regular 21 I have not tried.

There are a number of great Central American rums.

Ron Zacapa 23 - Guatemala
Ron Centenario XX - Costa Rica
Ron Abuelo 7 Anos - Panama
Flor de Cana 12, 18, 21 - Nicaragua
Zafra 21 - Panama

I'm sure I'm missing several, but that's what I came up with off the top of my head.

I believe that the blue bottle 21 Commerative IS their 15 year old rum. At least, mine is. The tag on the neck of my bottle makes the claim. Anyway, I have never seen another FDC "21". What does the bottle look like? Thanks!

True, true, the 21 is a 15 year old. I do not believe there is an actual 21 year old. I could be wrong. It would not be the first time.

Also, if you can find a bottle, Zaya was originally a great Central American rum from Guatemala, until production moved to Trinidad. Now it's a great Trinidadian rum, although different from the Guatemalan original.

I spent several days editing rum information on wikipedia and finally came to the conclusion that the old adage that the last liar wins, is more than an old adage. Experience or facts have little or weight on wikipedia so I don't even look at it anyone.

One Barrel from Belize is good (for its age) and much underestimated.

Although Wikitravel is a good place to start for travel ideas...

Panama and FDC for a lighter traditional spanish style
Guatemala for that sweet almost syrupy stuff
1 Barrel I haven't had yet. Heard different things about it.

Travellers (the Belizean distillery behind One Barrel) has now released 5 Barrel and a 10 yr aged rum called Don Omario's. Both are quite nice.
