Just thought I'd get some opinions rolling on this, what do you think will be more sought after years down the road. Obviously when the 1440 Appleton get bought up the want/value of this fine spirit will increase, unlike the Mount Gay which is already sold off all its 2000+ bottles. When you compare presentation, age, etc there all pretty close between the two, what are your thoughts, I think it could go either way, but does Appleton creating fewer of this special rum give it the edge???????

Mount Gay Tricentennial came out in 2003. There are fewer bottles of Appleton 30 but I see both becoming collectible bottles. A lot of the value will depend on what these two companies do in the next ten years.
They are different styles, those the flavors of aged rum do converge over time in the barrel.
Appleton has a long history of blending old rums while Mount Gay has only been building their market for old rum since 1995.
