I never know where to put the cocktail questions. Last Thanksgiving, while visiting family up north, I had a Hot Buttered Rum at a restaurant that was absolutely delicious. Do any of you have a good recipe for one?

I picked up this one in the Bahamas while waiting out a cold front with a couple of other yachts. To a cup of hot water, add a squeeze of lemon, a tablespoon of honey, a measure of dark rum and top with a slice of butter. Stir with a cinnamon stick until the butter melts and enjoy.

That's a simple sailors recipe. You can spice it up with a splash of orange juice, clove, etc. But sometimes simplicity is the best. But use a decent rum or you'll be disappointed.

I've been so busy lately that I'm just finding this.
I actually have two recipes up on my site right now, with regular old hot buttered rum (http://rumdood.com/2009/12/01/hot-buttered-rum/) and then another recipe that will appear in Jeff Berry's upcoming tome, Volcano House Hot Buttered Rum (http://rumdood.com/2009/12/03/volcano-house-hot-buttered-rum/) which adds some maraschino and some black tea to the mix.
