When Zafra Master Reserve recently found its way onto the shelves at my local Spec's, I decided to purchase a bottle and give it a try. Amazing! I have a new favorite. This is the way I like a rum. Big slightly musky aroma with just hint of sweetness to help round it out.
It is distilled in Panama and aged 21 years in bourbon casks.
sounds good, i'll keep my eyes open for it

The Zafra MR 21 is a private label being imported by the same guys who first brought Zacapa into the USA. Dana Imports of Florida.
Zafra refers to the sugar cane harvest time and the word is thought to have roots in Spanish and Arabic.
I look forward to tasting this one.

I also got a bottle of Zafra 21 yesterday along with a few others from Hi Times. Saving it for next weekend to open and sample. Now if Forrest could get me the Cartavio 1929 Old Rum of Solera 12 yr stuff that would be a Christmas miracle.

Similar story,
I had always assumed that Hi Times, via the disclaimers, would not ship spirits out of CA. I re-read again & realized my error. They sell so many Rums I can't get. Friday evening (Great timing) the Fed-Ex truck came just as i was pulling into the driveway.
Zafra
Ron Millionario
Plantation Guyana
Plantation Grenada
NO WAY i was going to wait. All 4 are excellent. Top one was the Millionario
Just amazing. Then the Zafra, very close behind.
The plantations- So far I like all of the 7 I have. But, i think I like the Jamaica, Grande Reserve, amd Panama best.
We will be eating dog food for a few weeks, worth it!

We are sorry, but the rules change fairly frequently . . . so we apologize if the generic statement scares anyone away.
Nice haul neatdrinker-- i love all of the Plantations too (Guyana is probably my fave, but Jamaica is close on its heels..then again so are the rest. . .)

Cans or biscuits??
Very true, especially if you work hard, you need something to look forward to to keep you going. My last 3 rum mules have let me down, so it's time to go online and find someone who will ship to the Islands as new finds are very rare here.

Rumelier,
I'm supporting you on this quest. As you will note, I'm shopping on your back door whenever I can. I have a Florida Apartment so Forrest would ship to Florida??
Looking forward to hearing back.
