I just heard a rumour that Wray & Nephew was or is on fire. Does anybody know if this is true or not?

It looks like the fire was in a warehouse that holds empty barrels.

Thanks,
that is good news, especially as our J.Wray stocks are fairly low right now. I think I might have a dram of some of their good stuff to toast their luck!!

Hey Rumelier question for ya. Appleton is owned by J. Wray, but are they made in the same distillery?

If I'm not entirely mistaken the Appleton Estate line up is in fact made at the Appleton Estate while Wray and Nephew concentrates on other rums.

Here is a video and a compilation of all the currently known facts about the fire:

Hey Rumelier,

Whats up with no Bacardi Reserva in T & C airport. Last week my mules said 6 - 8 were on the shelf. Yesterday it was a dry state?????drooling.gifdrooling.gifdrooling.gifdroo ling.gif I need more Bacardi Reversa from T & C. On a side note it was Cayman that had the John (I'm not sure of the last name of rum from Jamaica) that was incorrectly prized right? My mule is heading that way and I want to take advantageg()fyg()fy

J. Wray and Nephew is the parent company that distills, blends and bottles rums under the Appleton name.

Gecko, I will check into the Bacardi situation for you. Were you asking about the Reserva Limitada or the Reserve??
The rum in Cayman was the Edwin Charley Proprietors Collection, with the Virtue the best and was running around $30 there!! Made by J.Wray and Nephew.
J.Wray make their very popular Overproof at a distillery close to Kingston, all the other rum is made at the Nassau Valley distillery and then trucked down and aged in Kingston. Lucky no overproof went up in smoke!!

Thanks Rumelier,

It was the Bacardi Reserva Limitada. What else in the T & C airport would you suggest picking up? I'm sending down for some Eldorado 21. Do you have Plantation Rums?

Thanks guys for the info. I knew there were multiple distilleries in Jamaica but knew that appleton took up only one. I wasn't sure if the overproof was made at monymusk or any of the others.

Gecko,
this was our first order of BRL and our purchaser thought they came in a 12 pack when they actually only came in a 6 pack, so we only got half of what we expected. I have a few left at the store I can sell at the same price if you have your mule stop by here. There is a list of the rums we carry at the bottom of the "Turks and Caicos Rums" page on my website. I think most of them are at the duty free store. We do not carry any Plantation Rums. Somebody bought 12 bottles of Appleton 21YO yesterday, but I dropped one while getting it off the top shelf!! I could have cried and even licked my fingers a few times after I picked it up!!
