I'm on my way to San Francisco to start the long process of organizing the next San Francisco Ministry of Rum Festival.

It's a long process to even get to San Francisco. I'll go to NY then down to Washington DC then fly to San Francisco Monday.

As the event details are confirmed I'll be posting more information here.

Getting help isn't the hard part. Getting a venue that I can afford, the licenses required to do a special tasting event in California, food, vendors, cups, glasses, trash cans, toilets and a long list of extraneous miscellaneous things that have to be done.

And that's the short list!

But then if it was easy everyone would be doing it.

The venue was the Hangar One distillery facility in Oakland. There were over 200 people attending. I'll post more as details develop.

Hi Edward,

Do you have any dates in mind ? I'm asking 'cause there's a possibility of me going in SF in May. I see that last year it was end of April.

It is easy to register online, just go to the event page and click Register your brand (http://www.ministryofrum.com/events/sf2010/sftraderegistration.php) to enter. I'll follow up details.

Ed, I've just spoken with Malarkey and he says there has been no response to his attempt to get the Old Mill Rum into the competition and show.

The list of participating rums is growing in spite of my ability to send email and answer my phone, if you believe that.

Many brands were completely focused on Tales but now that that event is over, things are happening fast.

With 39 rums confirmed tonight I expect the list to grow to at least 50 rums to sample on Aug 8th.
