I finally got around to opening the barrel of rum that has been aging slowly in my office for a year or so. When it arrived from Angostura it was two years old. The rum was darker than I expected. It was barrelled at 80% alc/vol, so I watered it down 50% to make it 40% alc/vol. The main elements on the nose are alcohol and oak of course. I think a few more years of aging would not hurt!!
Tasting notes will come later as I don't usually drink rum so early on a Monday morning!!
