Weekly tastings in 2010

The Reef on the Drive is happy to announce that we will be launching a weekly rum tasting event in 2010 that runs from January to April.

We will be featuring premium rums such as Doorly's XO, Mamajuana, Goslings, Havana Club 7, Pyrat, El Dorado 15 and many more.

I'm looking at Sundays and am hoping that this will work better for the MoR members in the Lower Mainland. I'd love to have it be a weekly spot for everyone to gather and talk with reps about some great rum!

We will also be featuring a cocktail that includes the rum du jour. It will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. but I would like to invite members to let me know if there's a different time frame that works or a different day all together? I would love to meet more members in person and get to know as many people in my area as I can. I can't do it Friday or Saturday due to the sheer volume I experience those days. The intimacy of the night, I fear, may be lost. I also wanted to do it on one of my quieter nights.

I would love to have MoR members from other areas also come and check us out one Sunday.

isnt mamajuana an infuse? the woods, roots and all kinda stuff get mixed with any kind of rum (using top shelf rums would be a waste i think). They also mix it with wine over here in DR. woo-hoo that stuff.

There should also be a disclaimer that reads all the cocktails we feature are subject to agent approval to maintain product integrity.

You'd be surprised the number of agents who already have cocktails that they use to promote what I've classified as premium sipping rums in the name of moving product. Part of my deal is that I am willing to promote these cocktails in exchange for their time and the product that we sample out neat at tableside and my education table.

Oh man...Richard would kill me.

I just had a suggestion for a Premium Cocktail inspired by the famous Rusty Nail!
For those of you too deep in the rum world, the Rusty Nail is Drambuie and Scotch. *A Scotch based liqueur mixed with its base Spirit.

So what the hell: Doorly's XO and Hispaniola Mamajuana! Now all we need is a name...:D
