I found out at the Edmonton "Drink Like a Pirate" Rum Festival that Old Port Rum from Amrut has undergone some significant changes. The Rum is now in a different bottle and the blend had changed considerably.

When I tasted it at the festival it was much lighter than before, and did not carry the unique spices I had found in my original review. The importing company in Alberta will be forwarding me a new bottle and I will be doing a new review shortly...ish.

As I mentioned the new blend is significantly different. Gone is the rich molasses and caramel. In its place we have a more whisky-like spirit with butterscotch and oak leading the way.

One wonders why they didn't change the name as the two blends are barely recognizable as siblings.
