I stumbled upon a place that had a bunch of this on the shelves this weekend and I grabbed a bottle. While browsing the net to find some good recipes that would really showcase this rum, I read a number of posts that seemed to indicate this rum is no longer in production. Is that true? If so I may go back and get more and stock up!

The bottle is pretty non-descript, like a bottle of Arrow Triple Sec with that same gold screw top. The back says imported by Pernod Ricard USA, Purchase NY

Should I grab some more before it's gone, or have rumors of this rums demise been exaggerated?

I'll let the more seasoned 'posters' tell you, but I believe their 151 has been/will be discontinued.

I'm near Boston MA so if that is the case and it has been discontinued, then I'm defintiely going back for the rest! :)

Yep, that is the word. Seems that DDL (El Dorado brand) (who supplies the base rum for LH) will be focusing on their own production / supplies and will cease selling off stocks of rum to other labels.

Still plenty of LH 151 available in the MA area, but start to stock up if you like it as it will be less available going forward!

Of course everybody else who is reading this thread from outside of New England (maybe even MA..) is saying what the hell is a packy...???:confused:

BTW: it's a liquor store... (yeah, they don't sell rum in the grocery stores around here... bummer!)g()fy

HA! I'm glad you picked up on that! I threw that in as a shout out! We are of course on the New England forum, so when in Rome.......

I also must confess, that new McDonalds coffee commercial was playing in the background, the one where the 2 fishermen are talking and one says, "what do they ask for at the packy?" "ID!" Of course the true New Englander would've said, "You get cahded at the packy when you tried to buy some bee-ah!!!"
