I should have been more diligent as this is the more appropriate forums for this particular question.

---

I'd like to take a trip to Martinique later this year and tour as many distilleries as I can. Hopefully, others here have already done such a trip and know some good pointers & warnings for someone like me. I haven't read that the social unrest is continuing so am I correct to say that it is now safe to go? Can anyone offer advice for trip deal?

Mr. Hamilton gave some ideas and I wanted to ask if anyone else could weigh in with some good advice. thankyou.gif

In general Martinique is not one of the more popular primary Caribbean destinations for travelers from the USA and is under served as compared to travelers from France and other European areas.

Air France from Miami to FDF may be an option.

Tripadvisor is a huge travel website and maintains a forum on Martinique. You may wish to visit this Thread (http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g147327-i787-k1701144-Flights_from_USA-Martinique.html).

It addresses air travel from the USA. It may also provide you some resources for packages.

Happy searching!

Try American Airlines to PR, and catch a smaller plane from there. I think you can go this way. Or, you might try to fly to St Maarten, and catch a hop from there. I am planning to go next year myself, and these were suggestions I received from friends who traveled the Islands frequently. I have not checked on the actual route. Try Travelocity.com.
