In Miami, I stopped at Calle Ocho for a visit to a few cigar shops. There are many Miami only blends to try, and I picked up a few tasty ones. The new cigars that deserve attention are the new Padilla blends.
As I mentioned before, Don Pepin is no longer blending Padilla cigars. The new 1932 blend is delicious though, not as spicy and peppery as the original, but rich and refined. The lancero I smoked was excellent, and I still have a robusto and a torpedo to try.
The new Miami blend is outstanding also. In the old Miami 8 and 11, the spice and cedar flavors were more prominent, and the new blend(minus the 8 and 11 in the name)is more concentrated in coffee and cocoa flavors.
I would recommend trying both of these new blends.cigar.gif

Thanks for the recommendation, I will try a few. I see from earlier posting that Corona is a part of your stomping ground. I just love this storecigar.gif Maybe next time I'm in Orlando maybe we can have a toast and smoke together.

What do you think of the Rocky Pantella Old World torpedo?

I recently tried a few of the Padilla blends. I was most impressed with the '68. The 1932 was good as was the 1948, but I keep going back to the '68. I picked up a few other blends too. So far so good.

Hey Gecko, that would be great. Just let me know when you are in town.

The Rocky is an excellent and well made cigar. It does not fit my tastes exactly, so I don't smoke them very often. He makes a petite corona of the 92 that I keep around, it's a great 20 minute smoke.

I agree Bluehammer. Padilla has a great selection of cigars. I have a couple of 68 and 48 in the humi also.

I'm very worried about the Padilla marque as a whole

The Miami went from Pepin Garcia production to Tabacalera Tropical production because the new Miami factory was not ready in time. Now it's being produced in Honduras along with the Signature 32.
All of Ernesto's lines are now exclusively distributed by Cigars International.
I worry about that influence and what it will do to the quality of his once very fine cigars

I love the padilla cigars! Too bad about Pepin

Torp, that creates a situation that can give cause for concern. So far, so good. We shall see.

I never tried the Miami 8/11, but the new Miami is very good. Tried the 32 and 64, both just OK, may need to sit in the humi for a bit. I still have the 48 to try, but I will be buying more of the Miami's for sure. cigar.gif
