I met Beach Bum Berry (http://www.beachbumberry.com/) on the Carousel Bar in New Orleans, where else? His reputation preceded him, but I wasn't prepared for the Bum. I thought I lived a charmed life until I met the author of several books on Tiki Bars and the Tiki culture that changed the way America viewed rum in the last century.

His latest book, Sippin' Safari, is engrossing with its histories of the Tiki bartenders and some of the drinks they invented. The chapter on the Zombie is worth the price of the entire book.

what a great read, the Bum topped himself with this one. Glad you liked the Zombie chapter, I had joked with Jeff about turning him into a zombie for the chapter, he took it serious, and I had the privilege to create and apply the prosthetic makeup on him.

Nice job, I'm sure everyone had a good time when Jeff became a zombie for a day, which goes to show how seriously everyone took these drinks. After I met the bum, I had a new appreciation for tiki drinks and the people who made them.

Looks like the 2007 Tiki Oasis seminar will be in San Diego this coming Sunday. Anyone here going?

I'm thinking that I may have to make the trip.

Thanks for the site link. Very enjoyable. I found his Pyrat review interesting, as he panned XO. I agree with him completely.
