Gardel was a distillery in Guadeloupe that has since closed. I have seen some of their products on French websites. The last product I have seen was by Bristol Spirits (maisondurhum.com)

I can't remember reading any tasting notes on Gardel........

Gardel was a sugar factory and rum distillery in Guadeloupe that closed before 1990. I've only seen a few bottles from Gardel that were bottled in France, which usually means that they aren't the highest quality rhum agricole but rather some molasses based spirit distilled for export.

I'm not saying they are bad, but all of the French distilleries bottle their best products in the islands so the quality control of the name.
