April 13th, I'll be at Ten 01 in Portland for an educational seminar on my favorite spirit.
I'll also be demonstrating how easy it is to make some delicious cocktails at home.
I'll be adding more information here tomorrow but wanted to mention this before I go to bed tonight. It's been a long day.

That sounds like fun!
I presume it's in Oregon ...not Maine.

Yes, Rum Runner you're right again. I'll be in Oregon, it's still a little cool for me to be in Maine this time of year.
Monday sold out even before I posted this last night, but the good folks at Ten 01 have arranged for another seminar on Tuesday from 6 to 8pm. Reservations can be made by calling Ten 01 (http://www.ten-01.com) at 503.226.3463.
Thanks to Kelley Swenson of Ten 01 (http://www.ten-01.com) and Timothy Davey of Beaker & Flask (http://www.beakerandflask.com) for their work putting this together. If it was easy I'd be doing all the work.

Wow, that filled up quickly! I'm so glad you were able to add Tuesday night; otherwise I'd be missing out. See you Tuesday; I'm really looking forward to it!
Thanks,
John

Don't worry Lew, Seattle is on the map, even if it is yet to be on the schedule. I've got some more work to do up there like find a venue, date and some product support before I can make a date but it's certainly coming.
I'm looking forward to meeting you Sheriff. It's always nice to meet forum members who appreciate my favorite spirit.

I here your frusturation Lew..I am definitely bummed I couldn't make the Portland event seeing it is just a hop skip and jump down the 5 (I-5 for foreigners)...Hopefully I can arrange to hit the San Francisco tasting..work permitting of course, tickets are cheap now around ~120 USD round trip - see expedia. Speaking to west coast rum events particularly OR and WA, we are (or at least have been) repressed in the Northwest, so rum based social functions are welcome and a good thing for the hearts and minds of folk around here. Keep up the hard work Ed!!!
Cheers,

Thanks to all the people who came out Monday and Tuesday night. Kelley Swenson and I didn't expect to sell out two nights in a row. It was great to meet some forum members and to meet some of Portland's finest, bartenders at Thatch.
Thanks again to Kelley and Ten 01 (http://www.ten-01.com) and Timothy Davie of the soon to open Beaker and Flask (http://beakerandflask.com/home). And to the people at Thatch (http://www.critiki.com/cgi-bin/location.cgi?loc_id=589) for allowing the Portland bartenders and I to invade their bar. I'm just sorry that I couldn't stick around and enjoy some cocktails.

Hey Ed, I want to thank you again for coming to Portland and putting on a very informative and tasty presentation. I made the Hemmingway Daquiri this weekend and it was nearly as good as yours, even though I don't have Neisson Blanc.
I'm looking forward to getting some of the cane syrup you brought. Can you let us know when and where it will be available?
For you other forum members, if you get a chance to attend one of Eds' rum seminars by all means do it! Mrs. Sheriff and I highly recommend it!

It was nice to meet you and your wife as well. Standing around talking about rum really is the least I can. As for the cocktails, I was assisted by two great guys who really made me look good.
I'll keep you posted as soon as the sugar cane syrup is on its way to the nw.

Ed,
Thanks for coming up to Portland! Your rum tasting was very informative and entertaining. Your journeys are always fun to hear about. You presented a nice variety of rum and cocktails to taste and enjoy. Hats off to the guys behind the scenes, Kelley Swenson of Ten 01 and Timothy Davey of Beaker & Flask, for helping it go very smoothly.
It was so popular that when I went to book on the first day I was e-mailed it had already sold out! Glad you decided to do a second night.
Look forward to seeing you in Miami in 2 weeks at the Rum Tasting Competition.
Regards,
Roger

I'm super late on this, but I just wish I had read about the event before that night came around. That's what I get for lapsing on my forum visits. I guess my rum bug gave way to a craft beer bug, so I've been more focused on that lately.
It was great meeting Ed over at Teardrop later that night, though. cheers.gif
