I am going to Bermuda on a cruise this summer. I have never heard of any rums coming from this island (maybe a bit too far north for the cane) but I had a question for the experts. What should I look for that I can't get in the states? I know that it is a British Island, or is associated with Great Britain. Are there any gems that I should look for?
Personally I think I might have picked a southern destination in the Carribean, but I was over-rulled by the "one who must be obeyed" (wife). :)
Thanks in advance

Doesn't Goslings rum come from Bermuda? Goslings Family Reserve is supposedly good.

I'd hop on that boat. I've never been there but I know there is some good history there. Goslings comes from there and I love there whole line. Remember you can't bring the 151 back with you. If you get a deal on the family reserve (comes in a wooden box with straw, black wax cork seal, champagne bottle) grab as much as you can. Its $60 which is par for the course. Enjoy a Dark N' Stormy and a Rum swizzle while there, they both originated on the island. Since its british you might have a shot at other island rums while there.

I took a cruise to Bermuda about 2 years ago, I was unable to find any great selections of rum. The one store I found a decent selecton is pretty expensive. They had the whole line of gosling rum, but they were about $6 more a bottle than I usually pay in the states. You may score better in the ships duty free shop. If I recall they had a decent selection listed, but did not have all of it on the shelves when I stopped in. One thing I can HIGHLY recommend doing on the island is renting a scooter. Me and my Brother In Laws cruised around the whole island. It was a blast...just remember they drive on the other side of the road...took us a while to get use to that, could have avoided riding up in the side walk to swerve on coming traffic in Hamilton if we remembered this sooner laughing.gif. But that is another story...I could also tell you how I smuggled a couple bottles of rum on to the ship using my wife's Pantene bottle....but I will save that for another thread....party1.gif
