I was looking at my one bottle of cruzan single barrel today and thinking about how MGXO price is going up. Got me to thinking "I wonder if cruzan is going to do the same thing?" I got thinking and comparing the two, both are ranked high according to tastings.com, both were priced reasonable for the product you got, both are going through a new marketing and bottle change, and the MGXO price just went through the roof...might cruzan be next?

Another thought that crossed my mind (although I have not been keeping up with the MGXO thread) is if it will change the flavor of the MGXO? Not saying for the better or worse, just change. I think several members said the zaya from trini was different than that from guatamala. Might be another reason to stock up on the cruzan single barrel.

RonJames, so far, the MGXO flavor is the same, unchanged, with the move to the new bottle. I believe that I will taste something different with the the Cruzan Single Barrel, though. It has already migrated to a new bottle. Really, I don't care about the bottle, as some do. But, the rum is a different story....!

a bit of insight into the workings at Mount Gay: they have a lot of old rum, reportedly in the 30 to 36 year age range, so we don't expect a strain on the ability to deliver XO. Even the rare new 1703 XXO is said to be plentiful at $99 a bottle.

One of my local stores just stock the shelf with new Curzan White and added a $5.00 increase. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.
