Saturday, May 30 the Chicago Ministry of Rum Festival will be held at the Volcano Room, upstairs at the Bottom Lounge (http://www.bottomlounge.com/).
Friday, May 29th, the Distiller's Dinner will take place with cocktails served as they are when you're a guest at a distiller's house. Nothing fancy, but oh so good.
I'll post more details in the coming weeks.

my commitment: go anywhere, anytime to help someone promote rum -- whenever possible. Yes, Rum is experiencing a renaissance and these events are catalysts to the revolution.

Come to Chicago, New York and San Francisco if you can.
If you had to pick only one, I think it's fair to say Miami will likely draw the biggest crowd of professionals, connoisseurs, experts, bartenders and mixologists, importers, distillers and blenders, with the most VIP parties, interesting seminars, bitchin' bikinis and ear-to-ear grins.
I would not miss any rum event that I can get to reasonably.

Miami was good, but for quality of cocktails San Francisco set the bar pretty high. Combine an amazing selection of rums with bartenders like Martin Cate making drinks with El Dorado, and he was just one of the bartenders making cocktails that will be remembered for a long time. When you're making cocktails for more than 40 of San Francisco's Bartender Guild you better be good or go home. St George Spirits was very kind allowing us to hold that event there and all indications are that we'll do it again next year.
A lot depends on what you want to see, do and drink. Tomorrow night Claudine Neisson from Martinique will be making 'ti punches in Chicago, unfortunately I haven't found a distributor in Florida for what is considered the best rhum in Martinique, when that happens things will change in South Florida.
