Im a new member that enjoys some good rum every once in a while. I also enjoy some good scotch, wine, beer, brandy, and vodka as well.

Anyways, while coming back from Nevis and a stop over in Porto Rico a while back, I picked up some Reserva Aneja at a duty free shop. Its produced and bottled by Trigo Corp. Toa Baja PR. I thought this rum was very good thus the reason I kept the box and the hand blown decanter bottle. It says it was a limited edition. Don't think it cost that much either but it was exceptionally good tasting dark rum. This must of been over 5 years ago. Attached is a photo of the bottle and box in case someone can recall it. Anyone know where I can get more?

Welcome to the forums. I guess I missed the attached photo of the bottle, but it's my guess that it's no longer produced as you mentioned it was about 5 years ago.

I still have 2 bottles that I bought at Internet Wines about 3 or 4 years ago. I had 4 and drank 2, so I know that I liked it. Back then, I did not keep good tasting notes. I seem to recall that Bacardi 8 is very close in taste. I will crack one, soon and report ! I understand that there is no more in the US unless you find an "old dusty".

That said,

Welcome, SCURVY! cheers.gif

I believe Trigo is still producing Reserva Aneja. The quantity is limited and distribution down here seems spotty.

I remember Robert Burr saying he was hoping to see it introduced in Florida, USA sometime in the near future.

I saw it a couple of times during my recent visit to PR and have one bottle on the shelf. Apparently Trigo is a difficult company to find any information on even if you live in PR. Not a bad rum though.

Thanks guys, its amazing how you can still remember how good flavored a rum can be, that you remember exactly how good it tasted even after many years without having it in a long time. Hopefully, at some point in time I will find this treasure. Of course it maybe better if I dont.

Your best shot is the aiport in PR my friend. Thats where me and the misses stock up. I find it a very light body with spice to it.

Yes, I have it here and I've been told by reliable sources that Trigo Reserva Aneja will soon be sold in Miami. We have Don Q Gran Reserva in stores here now, finally.

Trigo is definitely still making Gran Reserva. The bottle is very unique. Rum trivia buffs may be interested to know that this unique dark glass "genie" style bottle was originally used for Vizcaya in it's first incarnation years ago.

If its sold in Miami at some point I dont see why it couldnt be sold in Chicago at one of the big liquor depots. ie Binnys, Sams! They are pretty good about getting wines ect.. so hopefully this rum. Or maybe I could order it from Miami and have it delivered if you can find out who gets it. More expensive that way though.
