I'm at a loss where to post this... If this isn't the right forum my apologies to the Mods.

I was searching around for good rum selections at local liquor stores where I live when it downed on me that in this province every single bottle of (legal) booze is imported by the Alberta Liquor and Gaming commission. Surely they must have a list of what is available...

I was close. The actual company the contract maintains the list of what is brought into the province, and what liquor stores are bringing in what product! A quick search with the keyword "rum"and I have 437 different varieties with stores that carry them on my screen. I just had to share :)

If you're planning a trip to Alberta I highly recommend a seach to see what you can find in the area you're headed to.

For kicks... here's the list for BC too:

Both provinces have a better selection than Ontario's LCBO.

YOUNG'S - OLD SAM DEMERARA (from Guyana) in BC looks worth trying at $22.85 per bottle.

Hey! I noticed the Appleton Master Blenders Legacy is all gone! Canada is where I got my only bottle.:(

I think I got the last bottle in town here of the Master Blenders Legacy; there was a real run on them after Christmas for some reason? Seems to be lots left in Ontario (lcbo.com) if you're out that way in the near future.

Don, you sure hit that square on the head. This province is terrible for it's rum selection. Two darker aged rums (that stand out in my opinion) that hit the shelves for a 'minimum time only' are the El Dorado, and sometimes a nice Flor de Cana. I have a buddy who manages a LCBO who gives me a heads up when they hit the shelves because they don't last long, lol.
...sorry to jump in....not often I get to take a shot at the LCBO ;)

Cheers!

Cliff
