The blog looks slow tonight so I figured I'd share a quick story and a little knowledge about how I got into rum. I got back from Puerto Rico 2years ago after going to the bacardi distillery, tasting Don Q anejo on the rocks, and a number of cube libres. At the time I was dumb enough to come back empty handed and when I got back to the states realized that I had trouble finding Don Q much less anything aged by them. So I emailed the company who then transferred me to their importer who told me after getting my mail address "Im sorry but Don Q doesn't export the anejo or gran anejo to the US market". I was really bummed out for awhile and then one day a box arrived for me, and inside was a bottle of anejo and cristal. After jumping for joy I wrote back to the importer about how they had a customer for life and I can say now that they have already made their money back from me. Just thought that a good positive story might let us think about the rum industry and how it does strive to reward us. Have a great evening and bottums up to all.cheers.gif

Hey RonJames,
That is a cool story and great to hear that they were so generous. I wish St Nicholas Abbey 10 yr Barbados Rum would have treated me the same. It appears your mojo is much stronger then mine. Enjoy and drink in good health.

Thanks for the story, sounds like you managed to write the right letter to the right person. Don Q still isn't widely distributed in the US, they did however start importing their products directly to the US, before they were imported by Beam Brands, things are looking up for rum lovers.

I am happy to report we tasted Don Q Gran Anejo here in Coral Gables at the tasting event last Friday evening. It's now available in South Florida liquor stores.

How'd you like the gran anejo? Its the 1st good sipping rum I had and the reason I've turned to this vice.
