Hello fellow rum lovers,
I found and joined this site for the reason if figuring out what rum I tasted in while vacationing. Looks like a fun community - ill be sticking around.
The rum was in a leather bound bottle with thick stitching. (as a remember we were doing a late night tasting) I think its a more expensive rum. I can't place the name.
It was sweet sipping rum. I would drink it straight for dessert, however, my bf drank his with his meal.
I've been searching the web and google images but with no luck.
I hope someone out there has tasted this rum! Its REALLY tasty.
Thanks! Amber

Doesn't the Oronoco bottle have leather wrapped around a portion of it as well?

Amy where were you vacationing? How dark was the rum? The nice thing is the leather bag looks a lot classier for me than the brown paper bag while Im stumbling along the streets!party1.gif

I'm with rumdog007 on this one. Most people remove the leather pouch from the Pampero bottle and besides it is a pouch or purse instead of a bound bottle.
Oronoco does have a band of leather but it's not stitched.

I'm with rumdog007 on this one.
And, I have to agree with Ed.
If it was the Oronco rum you would have proably moved on and be on a Burbon site LOL Personally don't really care for Oronco and its about $25 per bottle over priced

Centenario XX was the first to spring to my mind as well. Somewhere around here I have a picture, not to mention a bottle of it, but as I'm feeling lazy today, here's a link to it:
A great looking package (http://www.superwinewarehouse.com/257419)

That Centenario Fundacion XX Anos Reserva Especial gets a lot of great feedback from those who first taste it. It's a a rich, sweet, full-bodied blend with a unique signature flavor, aged twenty years in oak, featuring a bottle covered in a leather pouch. This viscous rum rates favorably with those that prefer a sweet and smooth finishing rum.

And I do love the sweetness and smoooooth finish. I could drink this by the gulp full. I remember it tasting like brown sugar melted in butter... YUM!!
If anyone can suggest rums that are similar to the Ron Centenario we're always looking to add to our collection of favs!
Thanks you! you guys ROCK!

PS. I was vacationing on the carribean island of Dominica. We stopped in a hard to find place, red rock haven. A little slice of Americana in rugged paradise. The owners, Stacy and Gina are from Canada and the state respectively so I knew it probably wasn't from the island. They are well traveled and had quite the collection. Check it out - its in the village of calibishe

It's about $30 here from what I've read (which seems rather low for this rum), but that would make your opinion of it be that it tastes like a $5 rum. :p

It is also a great rum for full bodied cigars. Try the new Zaya, Ed15, Diplomatico Exclusivo, and Pampero.cheers.gif
Oh yes, and Atlantico.

I am head over heels for Atlantico. One of the most satisfying sweet rums in my cabinet. I hope they can increase production and distribution while maintaining quality.

That's my hope also. They're taking delivery on their third batch now. So far, it's been real consistent.

3 of my first 6 bottles are gone. I'm enjoying Atlantico, and, so are my friends! gzzg
