Hello
I was wondering if there are any rum distilleries in Australia that sell to exporters. I'm interested in exporting and marketing Australian rum to other countries.
Kind Regards
Ben

Welcome to the forums. There are only a few Australian distilleries still in operation and most of the distribution is spoken for but things change from time to time.

Bundaberg exports quite a bit. It's a reasonably big brand in New Zealand, and seems to appear wherever there is a large concentration of Australians (e.g. the UK and SE Asia).
Inner Circle seems not to export much. It was occasionally available in New Zealand but I heard the importer dropped it. I have never spotted it exported anywhere else.

bunnyhugs, a few years ago, the full range of Inner Circle rums filled the shelves at BevMo at $10, $15, $18, and $20, colored dots/proof, respective from low to high. They did not sell very well. When they went on sale ($6, $7, $8, and $11) I went crazy and bought 10's of cases(maybe, MORE). Now, you will see dusty lone bottles at smaller liquor stores for full price $20 to $45. I like this rum so much better than Bundaberg. Soft essence of toffee, fruit, and sweetness, Inner Circle was a real suprise for me. I believe that Bacardi owns them now.

Inner Circle is indeed far the better rum. I have a bottle of the green label on the shelf and I am not looking forward to finishing it since it will be hard to replace.
I'm surprised to hear Bacardi owns them. I had the impression they were relatively small and so unlikely to be on the radar of a giant like Bacardi. Guess I was wrong.
I have never liked Bundaberg. To me it just tastes thin and rough. An unfortunate experience with the overproof may have colored my perception a bit though.

Inner Circle was restarted by Stewart Gilbert who sold his interest in the company to Nathan Lion (http://www.lion-nathan.com/), a large Australian spirits company.

That was a very good investment. I wasn't in the states when it got closed out. What a shame. I see Inner Circle as a rum that was slightly ahead of the curve in the US.

Thanks, Ed. I got it wrong. NLA and Bacardi Martini formed a 50/50 joint venture, Bacardi-Lion, with Bacardi-Lion responsible for distribution of Inner Cirlce in Australia.

Thanks for the clarification. Doesn't sound like we're going to see Inner Circle in the states for a while.
