The rum is medium amber with nice thin, slow, legs. The first aroma emanating from my Flare is decidedly banana, alcohol, with a touch of maple. The initial sip is rather smooth with little to no burn. Then my tongue lights up, after 5 seconds, or so, like a fire was lit. What a nice burn it is! After that initial sip, a caramel aroma replaces the the maple. The taste is truly a Demerara in spirit. It reminds me of pecan, soil, light chocolate, and cayenne pepper. Not a hint of vanilla or sweetness. The finish is one of the longest which I have tasted in a Demerara. But, it is localized completely on the tongue along with that delightful burn. None of the burn can be felt in my throat upon swallowing. I love this stuff. I found it for $65.00 in Denver. I know that I will go back for more. Please excuse my very unrefined and freshman description. I am just hoping to report well enough to let others in on this great rum.

I have been known to show up for a ride on a beautiful classic boat with a bottle of rare rum, BTW!

Thanks for the notes, Rumdog. Since it is dry and complex, I know I will like it.
Now, to find it.

I found a bottle of this stuff in a store here in AZ. They also had a younger version as well. The 15yr was $75. I was not sure if this was a fair price, but seems to be. Perhaps I will talk them down a few $$$. Thanks for the review/info.
