While this may be lost on some of those of you outside the US, in the US it's super Sunday, the day of the single biggest sporting event. Being in Chicago today, and the Bears blew it long ago, I'm not as interested in the teams as I might otherwise be. But it's still a good reason to have a few cocktails.

Talking to friends on the west coast, it sounds like Dark and Stormy's will be big out west. For me, it's going to be a ti punch then some Brugal and ginger ale. After half time, it will probably be old fashioneds, plural.

I realise I'm treading on eggshells here, but American Football is so boring.

Many sports are boring for the uninitiated. Most Americans boys play football from an early age and many retain a lifelong interest in the game, especially when it is particularly well played or has an exciting ebb and flow, as did the end of this game.

Please suggest a suitable cocktail, to combat the boredom Berbician, if for nothing else. We'll be sure to give it a whirl. glass.gif

lolol, I told the misses about you what you said berbican and she agrees whole heartedly. Still I think in american society half the people that watch the superbowl have zero interest in it but instead are there for the party and tv ads. we should work on a super bowl drink though, maybe a touchdown toddy?g()fy

Broke the rules today and drank Peroni beer to chase too many wings, but finished the night with a Ti Punch, using a dark agricole for a punch vieux.
I must say that I find European football, or soccer, as we call it, to be extremely boring, with no insult intended to my European friends. But I imagine if I was born in Europe and attended those matches, I probably would not feel that way. Watching it on the teli is a sleeper.
Micheals comment was perfect.

I had a few caiphirnias to start the day before the game at a bartenders event, but during the game, it's beer beer beer beer beer. ;)

From the penthouse overlooking the Atlantic ocean on Miami Beach, the large screen television could not have been placed in a better setting to enjoy the game -- and the cool breeze. The first-class cocktails presented by our world-class bartenders from the Florida Room eclipsed the well-catered affair. Superbowl, super-fine party, nice people, great setting, great excuse to get together and let the hair down. Great ending to the entire event in more ways that one. It's not the destination, it's the journey. It's not the game, it's the ritual.

It's not the game, it's the ritual.
Unless you're playing for Vince Lombardi. "Winning isn't everything, it's a lot more than that." Or something like that.
