hello all. now i realise whatever i make out of this experiment may very well be incredibly poor by comparison, but for those who have been to cuba, can you buy tobacco leaves?

i wanted to try my hand at rolling with a cigar paper (i will look up how.........again, it will still not be great i'm sure :p) when i came back from that trip, also my friend wanted me to bring some back for him :D. i really don't know anything about where or if you can buy tobacco leaves (in cuba).

any help is greatly appreciated :D

I roll cigars for fun. To make a decent cigar takes some very important items.
1. Tobacco (Filler, Binder, Wrapper)
2. Mold (wood or plastic)
3. Cigar press (after being rolled a cigar needs to be pressed for a couple of hous then rotated and pressed for another 1/2 hour)
4. cap puch (or you can make it a pigtail)
5. table cutter to have a clean cut on the foot (you could use a straight cut)
6. oh yah' a CHAVETA (this is the tool of the cigar cutter)
7. Tobacco glue (vegi base)

Just so you know their specific ways to bunch the leaves (example: the tip of the leaves will all face the foot of the cigar)

I buy my tobacco from a wholeseller in Miami. A know a few friends in Miami that are cigar rollers. We split orders.

I do not think you will be able to buy Cuban leaves. Even if you could I doubt you could get through Cuban customs with them. They are very protective over their leaves and seeds. You could proably find a factory that would let you roll a few for fun.

Good luck.
