From time to time I have been gifted cigars from my students. Since 2004, when the current interpretation of the Cuban embargo came into effect, the cigars I have gotten have been, well, not great. Well, I walked into class and there was a big handful of Don Peppin Garcia Cuban Classic cigars on my desk. The student said she went to Don Peppin's birthday and thought of me when she saw these being handed out. VERY nice. That is the best present, from a student, that I have gotten in many years.

I bet you enjoy them. I enjoy many of the Pepin blends, and even the ones I find not exactly to my taste usually aren't off by much.

If you like Pepin Garcia he also makes...........

San Cristobal (Ashton Cigars)
Tatuaje, Cabaiguan & La Riqueza (Pete Johnson)
601 (Red, Black, Blue, ect..)

Among others......

He makes a few lines under his own name as well.

I have a number of Pepin's blends also, and they are all very good. He consistently makes great cigars. Which ones were you gifted? We could probably comment further if we knew.

MJL,
I've wanted to give some cigars to some professors pretty bad, but I'm weary of what they'll think of me after if they are against it. I mean, I'm sure its worth a shot, but the Profs I'd be giving them to are probably the same ones I would be asking to write letters of recommendation(ones that I get to know well and personally). So what's appropriate? I mean I'm aquainted with a Chem Prof who comes into the smoke shop occasionally(he smokes cigarettes in there), but I havn't had the opportunity of having him as an instructor(yet). I guess I'm wondering if I should show up to office hours with one of my really personable professors and when shooting the shit, see if he likes cigars and offer him some nice sticks.

Ahh, academia! My buddy is a music student and has his Russian Professor over for wine/Vodka/hang out and what not! Too bad my classes are 3-500 student lectures!!
