Congratulations to Essential Spirits and the Classick clan on the high rating given to Sergeant Classick Gold Rum by the:

BTI Review (http://www.tastings.com/scout_spirits.lasso?id=186785)

in which this rum was designated:

Best Value Gold Rum under $20
International Review of Spirits Award: Gold Medal cheers.gif

When will we be able to get the Sergeant Classick rums locally?

I believe you should be able to buy Sergeant Classick in San Francisco as the distiller Essential Spirits (http://www.ministryofrum.com/producerdetails.php?t=2323) is in Mountain View.

We wish that you were correct Ed. In another thread, 10-28 this year, in response to rumdog:

unfortunately, it STILL isnt sold in California.. stupid SWS passed on it.

We do have an alternative way to get it on shelves, but there is no sales force behind it, so its basically going to be sold locally, at least initially.

We are all over the east coast though.

New york
new jersey
Georgia
Florida
South Carolina

im sure some other places as well... i am working on getting a list of actual retail places that have made purchases. as soon as i do, there will be a radius search on our website so people can find the closest place to them.

the struggle continues.

Down where you are... hi-times will be carrying it i think, we have a pretty good relationship with them

A web search of Hi-Time indicates that they don't carry the rums, only the biershnaps from Essential. We will ask Beltramos to carry them.

Correct on all points. Not long ago, I contacted ES to see if they would part with a bottle, or 2, if I appeared at their doorstep and arranged to buy the something which they can sell for a "special price"(=more$$) and throw in the spirits for "free" and he said, "No", they could not risk it. The true spirits are covered under a different law, I guess. I need to show more patience!:(

Hey guys

Sorry i missed this thread last month.

First thanks for the kudos.. we are really happy with the rating, and will most certainly use it when promoting the brand.

Secondly YES!!!! we FINALLY got some distribution in California. The group that Ansley Coale (co-owner of Germain-Robin Brandy) put together to promote and distribute premium craft spirits has agreed to take on the Sgt Classick brand.

It will take a month or so to actually get bottles on the shelves, but rest assured that we will try to take the bay area by storm! K&L will most certainly have it, and i believe martin over at Forbidden Island agreed to a tasting as well. (though it was a while ago, i will have to confirm that) Hi-Times as well has agreed to a tasting and/or possibly stocking it once its available.

We thank you for the continued support. With any luck, we will finally get this brand up and running in our home state.

In other news, we continue to grow our presence on the east coast. i believe we are in all of New England now, including New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island, etc.

I will make a more formal announcement once i actually see bottles on the shelves here.

Thanks again Michael et al

Dave Jr

This is great news! If your rum achieves what Thomas & Leopold Single Barrel Dark Rum, then, I am in for a treat. Their process, 6 months of aging with wood chips, made for a delightful spirit! yay.gif

Just wanted to post an update...

Sgt Classick now available in California.. well in parts anyways.

The great folks at K&L have purchased their first 2 cases. I know its in stock at the Redwood city store, but since its in their system, you should be able to get in IN San Francisco and hollywood as well.

Dave, I have placed an order for 2 bottles of each. It is marked for "pick-up" in Hollywood. But, it has been a week in the "Picking" status. I'm not complaining, mind you. But, my mouth is watering! cheers.gif

Sweetness!

i can try to give a call into the liquor buyer at my local store, or i might just pop in... i know they bought 2 cases for the redwood city store, and they are in stock, but i dont know how long it takes to transfer from store to store.

Let me see if i can grease the wheels a little bit.

thanks for the support!

on a side note, i just brought some samples into one of my local watering holes.. the British Bankers Club in Menlo Park CA, and they were sold on it from the first smell!..

I have to say, i love selling this rum!

forrest, in order for your review to show up on the spirit detail page you have to enter at least a few lines of the review on the same page where you add the link. I added a bit and now you can see the link here (http://www.ministryofrum.com/rumdetails.php?r=785).

There is also a link from the front page under the left menu, though the location is going to change when I have some time.

Thanks forrest.

Sorry, i still don't see it. it must be my browser, security settings or something???

i found that out by trying to post a review of the Gold. . . which is great!
