75 years ago today, the 21st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was ratified, repealing Prohibition. During prohibition, liquor smugglers were dubbed rum runners despite much of the illegal liquor drunk in the states was Canadian whiskey. Following WWII, rum sales labored under the deserved reputation of being a cheap liquor. As they say in Barbados today, we drink the best and export the rest and so it was in the Caribbean for years.
Today the winds are changing and the rum being shipped out of the Caribbean is better than ever. To celebrate this historic day in US history, I'm going to enjoy a glass of legal rum. I'm starting with a glass of Barbados' finest. So in your glass tonight?

Thanks Ed,
That is quite an anniversary, surely one to be celebrated.
Tonight will be Havana Club 7 with some ginger beer and a couple ice cubes.
Here's to the weekend!

That being? Mount Gay XO or perhaps something else?
Tonight I decided to try Barbancourt Réserve Espécial again in my new Flare glass and give it a try. Although it seems a lot smoother this time than last, I still can't say it's amazing (although I hold it in higher esteem now than before). My favorite part about it is the aftertaste (longish finish).
Now I'm on to a little pour of Ron Zacapa 23, but that'll do it for tonight.

I think the liquor laws in many states are still very antiquated. and need to be bought into this century, so I can trade more with forum members!!
