I'm on my way to Seattle next Monday, then down to Portland for a day or so then back to Seattle to enjoy a sip or two of rum. The following week hasn't completely revealed itself yet, but San Francisco may be on the map for the following week.

Color me jealous. I have yet to visit so many of the bartenders I know in Seattle and Portland in their "natural habitats".

Any specific spots in mind to visit while in Portland?

I'm open to suggestions. I'm going to try to see the people at Rogue distillery, Imbibe magazine and a couple of bars.

You did say you were into beer before, so Rogue is no surprise (*edit: oh wait you said distillery not Alehouse). Something I'm planning on doing mid-November is going to the newish Deschutes Brewpub to have a glass of The Abyss from the tap, which is their very special imperial stout. It's supposed to be one of the best examples of the style, and I've heard nothing but rave reviews. I called them up and they said that it would be available starting either the 14th or 15th (I can't remember which day) at 10pm on tap and in bottles (could be a nice souvenir for you Ed).

I guess I'll miss that one as I'll be heading to San Francisco on the 14th. I can't do everything. Oh well.

Well it'll probably still be there when you're visiting, just that that is the day they are releasing it.

You should come north across the border next time Ed...Enjoy a rum or two with your BC brethren.

I've been looking forward to coming to BC for several years, summer seems to have slipped by, again.

Hello Ed,
you are to far away to bring the rumology to Europe (or better: in Berlin)!
I cant do everything here! ;-) I need popular help.

Have a safe sailing!
