My Trinny rum finally made it here after the recent storms. (another one is hovering below us right now, the winds are already blowing) Now I will have a long supply of 1824, 1919, Single Barrel, Royal Oak and Old Oak. When you come over next we should have the new Bambarra rum up and selling. I bought 2 oak casks of rum in for some friends, unfortunately they sent it at 80 proof!! So they will have to dilute it down to 40 proof, but they will save on the duty. Can't wait to try some.drooling3.gif

Well, not really. The duty rate here is based on volume, so they are really getting two barrels of rum for the price of one. I talked to one of the lucky recipients yesterday and our plan is to drain 50% of the rum into a plastic barrel and water it down to 40 proof. Then do the same with the oak cask, which will continue to age. So he will have a 2YO gold rum at 40 proof and a cask that will continue to age for hopefully years to come. How fast can one person drink 210 litres of rum before he starts on the oak cask??? I thought about buying one. But I would have to lose the rest of my rum collection to fit it in the house and would probably have to drink nothing else for several years. My wife is pretty understanding about my love for rum but I think this could be pushing too far!!drooling.gif

With that monumental glass of yours it might not last as long as you think… :)

I think that is why I didn't buy one for myself. I would have to drink the same rum everyday for years and it would encourage me to drink more, and that is something I don't need!! They sure do look good though and smell even better. Just don't have the space now for one either.

What a delicious dilemma...Btmup.gifcigar.gif

I assume when you say 40 proof, you really mean 40% because 40 proof would be super weak.

Yes you are right. The barrels in question are sitting in our warehouse now and look very tempting!! One has been paid for but waiting on the other to be paid. If it doesn't go soon I might be persuaded to find a space in my house for one. It could be time to get rid of some of the kids pets!!!:(

The Bambarra Gold and Silver Rums were released for sale today, November 17th 2008. It was my pleasant job to check-on and sample the rum for breakfast yesterday. A nice way to spend a Sunday morning!! The 8 Year Old Reserve should be released very shortly, there has been a delay with labels and boxes. I hope everyone who tries thses rums will enjoy them.

We're looking forward to being among the first to try the new Bambarra Rums, Bob. Robin is on the way down with some rums from your wish list. Looking forward to her returning with a few good bottles from you as well.

I've got a box full of "goodies" ready to go to South Florida with a couple of bottles of the Bambarra included. The Reserve is not ready yet, but maybe by the time Robin leaves. Looking forward to trying some new rums soon.

You might have the solution to a "growing" problem of mine. Our two dogs have an entire room for themselves... :D
