I'm sorry that I'll miss this one. If you love whisk(e)y you'll want to attend. Jon Hansell and his wife Amy do a really good job and attract a lot of great products. Here's a link to the SF event (http://www.maltadvocate.com/whiskeyfest-sf.asp).

I'd go far out of my way for a Midleton Very Rare too. Fabulous Irish whiskey

quite true, finest i've had... but if youre strapped for cash... check out Redbreast... its also made by Jamison Distilleries, but its only $40 compared to $150, and its almost as drinkable as the midleton.... thats the great thing about the whiskey fest... you learn about different products, thats where i found redbreast, and now its my house whiskey.

essential, have you paid attention to the events throughout the week leading up to the Fest? There's got to be 15 or more hosted events - Wonder who'll be left still standing for the event Friday!:)

Well then I'll keep my eyes out for the gents in wheelchairs. I thought last year's event was extremely impressive... but it was on a Thursday night (if I remember correctly). Plus we started out at a large Southern W&S function that was hosted earlier that evening. Definitely think Friday over the holiday was a good mood. I believe it will also be fleet week this year.

Didn't catch that you'd be there "essential". I'm sure we crossed paths at some point... hopefully I didn't swerve into you during the event, lol. I didn't bump into Forrest til I was darn near leaving!
I thought the event was very well done. No JM Rhum to go with the Clement iterations this year... and Zacapa only presented the 23 with a complete Diageo spiel.
When I asked about the 15 & the X.O. neither were presented. Not the thread to go into this but I did find interesting that the presenter insisted that (A) the 23 Centenario is the eldest Zacapa offering and (B) insisted (repeatedly) that the XO is a blend of 6-25 year old rum. He didn't know anything about the 30 anniversary or what ever the other anticipated offering is called or anything else. The 23C was the only thing discussable.

Matusalem you are awesome!
It was great to meet you in person
i wish i would have ran into Essential also, but maybe next time.
The event was a lot more packed this year, and i still think i preferred the venue (though last years was great also.)
Wow, I should have checked this thread before last weekend, since I was in the Bay Area as well...albeit for Tiki Crawl 8.
