I was wandering around downtown Indy when I was in town for the Moto GP looking for a well stocked Rum or Bourbon bar. I popped into about seven or eight places and finally gave up and slid onto a stool at the bar in the Conrad Hotel.

The bar maid assured me she knew how to make a Manhattan and I ordered one with a mid shelf Bourbon. - The "Manhattan" (not even close) was undrinkable. I was kind of shoving it around being polite and waiting to pay up and leave when I noticed a dark square bottle way in the back of the Rum shelf and asked what it was. She didn't know because she had never noticed it before. She had to get a ladder to retrieve it and brought down a bottle of Pyrat Cask 1623!! drooling2.gif Unopened, and unloved.

I ordered two fingers neet and she poured three(!!) then tried to give me some ice and insisted it was too strong to "drink like that". Somehow I managed :D WOW!! I had really lucked out!!

The stunner came when she brought the bill - the "Manhattan" was $17 and the Rum neet was $6.
I was tempted to ask for five glasses to go.cheers.gif

Anyway - that was last Sunday s- so if your in Indy go finish that bottle for me. cheers.gif

That's quite good for a bottle that fetches upward of $200. I fear the bartender may get a reprimand (at the least) if the manager or owner figures out what she did.

I know the bar, I'm 90 minutes from there! I might have to drop in next week when I'm in town.

Poor, poor lonely bottle of rum.
