Okay was thinking of splurging and getting a bottle of the XO, is it really worth the price? I was intrigued at the blend of the old vintages in the bottle.

This is an excellent agricole, very much along the lines of a cognac. What is the price point for you? Here it runs $200, although I did not pay that much for mine. There is only one store here that has it. It sips beautifully, complex and balanced. Interesting to note, when I was down in the Islands last year, you could purchase seperate bottles of each vintage at exorbitant prices, but the XO was less expensive. It all depends on how much you like agricole.

At the HiTime west coast rum tasting, Forrest had to pry me away from their booth. Hank is spot on; it's wonderful. It took me at least 4 glasses to really get a read. At least that was my story. It's about $135.00, here.

Well to amplify, this is fantastic rhum that does come across with beautifully intricate cognac tones/ nuances. Really if you want the hot tip.... try Cuvée Homere about $45 less, and it is at least 'as enjoyable'(and actually preferred by quite few of the people that i have tasted it with!) if it were me, i would pick Homere, but...

forrest, I agree. I've always enjoyed the Cuvee Homere most. They are both among the best rums in the world and certainly, the XO is a blend of some of the rarest, best vintages, but my palette loves Cuvee Homere the best by a slight margin.

I agree that the Cuvee is an excellent rum. So far, in my book, I can't say I prefer one over the other. I love them both. But, the point was made about price, here in Orlando the Cuvee is a better value, as it is in Cal. 135 for the XO is much cheaper than here at 200, and the Cuvee price here is 110.

I would definitely choose the Cuvee Homere over the XO. Clement is one of my favorite producers, but the XO just didn't do it for me like the rest of the line.
I don't think I prefer the Homere or the XO over the other. I love'em both the same. Most of the time.

I like the XO more than the Cuvee Homere. I think the Cuvee is a tremendous rum with flavors very similar to good blended scotches which I appreciate, however the XO I find to be much more complex with deep flavors of oak that I truly love.

I was lucky enough to to taste both these rums at a well known residence in Coral Gables for the first time. I have since managed to acquire a bottle of the Cuvee from the Bahamas where it was $165!! Then when unpacking my collection after Hurricane Ike I found I had an old bottle of the Cuvee hiding in a box, that I bought about 8 years ago. I think I will have to sit down and taste them together one night. Looking forward to getting a bottle of the XO soon. We now have a local French restaurant importing some of the Clement rums and I have been promised a very old bottle on their next shipment!! (I think they said 36 years old??) They gave me a bottle of 10 Year Old and a box of glasses last time I ate there and I managed to guzzle a few Ti Punches during the meal. A rare treat here in the TCI.
