Hacienda Saruro Flavored Rum - Venezuela

Distilerias Unidas (Diplomatico) is making a high-quality flavored aged rum that reminds me a bit of Drambuie. It's not available in the United States, but could be if there was sufficient interest.

Drambuie is a legendary honey and herb-flavored golden scotch whisky liqueur made from aged malt whisky, heather honey and a secret blend of herbs and spices.

Hacienda Saruro is the first Venezuelan Premium Rum Liqueur made with 100% aged rums. It has an aromatic and appealing dry fruit flavor with vanilla hints that provides a long lingering aftertaste. Chilled in the freezer, it pours like honey itself, presenting a delicious treat that satisfies as a digestif, or a special treat.

Hacienda Saruro eh, Cacique 500 (http://www.refinedvices.com/Cacique-500-Ron-Extra-Anejo-Venezuela) which is one of my favorite rums is produced at Hacienda Saruro. I don't suppose you have a presspack for this liqueur and or any additional information about how it is made?

I <3 Drambuie. Its good to see a rum going in that directions. The Xtabentun is too high in anise, I'd love to try Diplomatico's honey liqueur.

I've got a bottle of the Arehucas Guanche (http://www.ministryofrum.com/forums/../rumdetails.php?r=309) (i think that's what its called) though I haven't tried it in ages and forget how good it was. Its a Spanish style honey liqueur with a rum base.

I slept like a baby last night, after a late night sip of this heavenly nectar.

My hope is to generate some interest in this high-quality flavored rum and convince DUSA to bring some to the US.

I saw and heard all about how it is made. The director of production and general manger of the distillery (as well a half-dozen other important people) gave Ed and me a first-class tour of the entire facility.

Cacique is by far the most popular rum in Venezuela and Spain, and one of the top sellers in Italy. In the US, Diageo does not seem to push it much.

As I recall, I'm still recuperating from what was a two week trip crisscrossing the US before heading to Venezuela, all of the rum used in this liqueur was distilled in a pot still.

All too often sweet liqueurs don't show the flavor of the rum, but in this case there is a nice balance. I surprised myself and enjoyed two small glasses of Saruro after a fine dinner of perfectly prepared meat and tostones.

I'll be adding more information on this and the other rums from Distilerias Unidas (http://www.ministryofrum.com/forums/../producerdetails.php?t=4) in the next week.
