me and a couple friends used to make shots with fresh wheat grass juice and... (insert handy booze here) and we called them 'Lawn Mowers', they weren't great, but we had fun trying;)

If this is a holiday I want to go back to work. A taxi picked us up at 5:15 Wednesday morning. And tomorrow the taxi arrives at 5 for the return trip. Not exactly my idea of a vacation but are discovering a lot of interesting things about Distilerias Unidas (http://www.ministryofrum.com/forums/../producerdetails.php?t=4) S.A. More later . . .
There is a lot more to add to the database and Rob is really trying to behave.

I was informed that the freest country in the world only allows passengers to bring 2 liters of alcohol with them. One of us declared 5 bottles and was admonished by the nice woman in Miami, the other only declared the three bottles he bought duty free in Caracas. I could swear the regulation used to be four 750ml bottles. But no matter what the volume regulation, I've yet to hear anything about the proof. Is this just more government silliness?

I think it is. And given the "state of affairs" between the U.S.A. and Venezuela, you are lucky you both were not "cavity" searched under suspicion of smuggling 50ml "nips".

My favorite part was being called to a secret room in the bowels of the Caracas International airport by a "national guard" squad to be interrogated -- watching with sanguine politeness as they carefully inspected my fresh stash of rums packed densely in small luggage, a formidable Rum Reggae shirt collection having been evicted from it's former resting place to make room for a more precious cargo.
I'm ready to return for further adventures. Let's plan a group trip to visit the distilleries of Venezuela and drink in some of the liquid treasures of this adventurous territory. How about a side-trip to Angel Falls, the world's highest free-falling waterfall? Don't forget the legendary cocoa plantations, national parks and wild jungles with monkeys, exotic birds and unique indigenous tribes.
