Thanks! Yes, we have it here in Los Angeles. I like it. I made a daiquiri with it last week. drooling2.gif

you can pick this one up for $8-$10 a bottle at the jon's market in burbank, on glenoaks/western. it is now my rum mixer of choice. it has a very clean taste, very sweet and palatable. nothing offensive about it.

id even take a shot of it if someone asked. but it is a major league mixer that will get you a lot of compliments. smells great, too. i highly recommend, and for the price, i cant recommend anything else. its cheaper than the garbage corn-rums on the market, as well.

Interesting. Venado is now available to me in D.C., but it would be on my shelf for the same price as El Dorado.

It sounds as though the El Dorado might be a better rum for the same money. Anyone had both and care to comment?

Joe, they are quite different rums which mix differently. But, this news is coming from me, a silver-rum-nut which mixes up a Hemingway daiquiri on a regular basis. The Venado's result is a more traditional result, the ED a more fruity result.

If you have the basic ED white already, it would be a hard sell to gain customers with the Venado. One brand would just "steal" from the other.

Thanks, RD. Yeah, it is getting a little crowded at the inexpensive end of my white rum offerings. I just added Sunset SLR (and the Capt' Bligh Gold and 169 Very Strong Rum, for that matter) which is in the same price category, but I can help justify that because the embassy of St. Vincent and the Grenadines is directly across the street from my store =:-)
