Sangsters Jamaica Rum Cream

In my other post, I mentioned I was given a bottle of this very tasty bottle of rum cream. Besides wishing I had more and drinking it straight, what can I mix with this to make it even better?glass.gif

Have you tried any other rum creams? I wonder how it compares.

I did a taste comparison of El Dorado with Cruzan. Cruzan was water compared to DDL's rich sweet, nutmeg-vanilla inspired rum cream with a hint of peanut in the finish...

I prefer my rum creams neat, so silky and smooth! If I were to mix it... perhaps in a nice Earl Grey Tea with honey.

First time trying rum cream of any kind, and this is just a small sample bottle. I was just curious if it was meant for mixing or what.

If I can find it, I plan on buying more. It's that good.

i love rum cream.
i have never had Sangsters Jamaica Rum Cream, and frankly i am jealous.
El Dorado Rum Cream is an absolute joy to drink.
Castries is really fun, but ED is amazing.

i make a cocktail with ED RC, a nice flavorful dark rum (any nice darker aged will work, Appleton Reserve, or 12, El Doroado 5 or 12) and allspice dram. i will check the ratios, but i think it went like this:
2 parts Aged dark Rum
1.5 Rum Cream (ED)
1 Allspice Dram

Shake, strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with fresh grated nutmeg.

consider using your new rum cream anywhere you use cream. How about a bit in your coffee? Pour some on a piece of cake, or over some berries.

I currently have a wide selection or rum creams that I'm enjoying: Sangster's standard, Blue Mountain, Coconut, Banana, Rum Raisin, El Dorado, Cruzan and Ponche Kuba.

A rum in my morning coffee is something I look forward to on the weekends, but then isn't everyday a weekend when you start the day with a sip of rum.

Unfortunately I don't drink coffee, so that won't work, but on fruit or cake I can handle that.

Since it's such a small bottle, 2 or 3 servings and it's gone..... I think I'll just enjoy sipping it all by itself. Then look for more onlineJTR.gif

Try blending Sangsters with some ice cream and then float a shot of Appleton on top. A refreshing cocktail and not too strong, as Sangsters is only 17% alcohol.

I see some of you give average marks for the Cruzan rum cream, which I find to be a vast improvement over drinking Kahlua or Baileys. Soooo much better! So I really look forward to trying some new and different rum creams.

A bottle of Cruzan will only last me about three "sessions" as did Castries - so you have me fearing that when I open a bottle of ED, the cap will never get back on it, but the empty bottle will end up in the trash the night the cap comes off!

Not a rum cream - but if you ever see Amarula Cream, I recommend giving that a try too.

I'm surprised I haven't seen mention of Wray & Nephews rum cream. I've tasted a number of the others, including the El Dorado and find them all Bailey's-like. Very nice, don't get me wrong.

But the W&N is really different, thicker, much more interesting with tastes of mango, maybe pumpkin-like, cacao, nutmeg, etc. Rich and distinctive. The other's? Bailey's made with rum...

I truly wish I could - but the bottle I have was a gift, 200 ml, now about half gone. It is so nice that I have long debates with myself as to how, when and how much I will drink of it, knowing it'll be a looooong time before I get another, if ever...

The good news is that now that Wray & Nephew (Appleton Estate) products are being imported by Kobrand you may find a rum cream that is very close to Sangster's Rum Cream in the US in the future.
