I was there last Wednesday (for reasons I won't bore you with) and it still looked a little bit like a building site:( - so they must have really got a move on if it's already open. I will definitely be paying another visit in the near futuredrooling.drooling.gif

Hopefully it will be ready by Rumfest so I can pay it a visit.

Hey Rumelier. I'm envious you'll be at the rumfest London. PaulIP and Berbician posted elsewhere here on this venue being open and worthy of a visit.

We will have the Rum Training programme up and running by end of November after a trial end of September. Not just at Vinopolis - there are 13 dates between now and next August in Leeds, Edinburgh, Bristol, Birmingham, Brighton, Manchester and Liverpool

The Authentic Caribbean Rum Masterclass is a 6 hour course that encompasses the history, production of and how to mix with a variety of rums - including detailed tasting of the 20 or so brands in the WIRSPA portfolio. After sitting a searching test, those who make the required grade will receive 'Authentic Caribbean Rum-Master Certificates'

I can guarantee it's going to be educational and a hell of a lot of fun.

I'll post more once the details get finalised and may see some of you at a session.

Well, there is the Beverage Alcohol Resource (B.A.R.) (http://www.beveragealcoholresource.com/) training offered by Dale DeGroff et al. which spends several hours on rum, but also covers all other common spirits and is focused more on mixing.

I am looking forward to visiting it while in good old blighty for the Rumfest.
Can anybody point me in the right direction to some good rum stores in London. I want to buy a few extra bottles to ship back before the Rumfest. It will be a shock to the system paying UK prices but for something new to the collection, it is worth it.

There are three shops in Central London with a huge choice:

Gerry's in Old Compton Street - quite expensive, but a very wide range.

The Vintage House, also in Old Compton Street.

Royal Mile Whiskies in Bloomsbury (can't remember the name of the street, but I'm sure someone else will know).

There's also Tottenham Wine in North London (West Green Road, N15), but they don't have as much as they used to, although they can't be beaten on price.

I'm not sure which of the above ship abroad - almost certain that Tottenham Wine don't.

Finally, don't overlook Waitrose, particularly their flagship store in the basement of John Lewis (Oxford Street), but plenty of other branches all over London as well as the rest of the country.

Thanks Berbician for the useful info. I will take these addresses with me. I was using Royal Mile Whiskies for getting rums from the UK, but from there home in Scotland I think.

Royal Mile Whiskies is located on Bloomsbury St, just round the corner from Tottenham Court Road and New Oxford St.

Waitrose is very good for a British supermarket (you cannot usually find more than Lamb's Navy, Captain Morgan and Bacardi in most British supermarkets). Waitrose currently stocks English Harbour 5 year, Barbancourt 5 star, Matusalem 10 and 15, Angostura 1919 and 1824, Cockspur 5 star and 12 year, Mount Gay Eclipse, Bacardi 8, and all the usual suspects like Bacardi Superior, HC, Sailor Jerry, Captain Morgan etc.

I haven't been to Waitrose in the basement of John Lewis on Oxford St. Does anybody know if they stock anything more there than what I've just listed?

I think that John Lewis Food Hall has the same range as any other Waitrose. The English Harbour seems to be selling quite fast at the moment, probably because it's on special offer at Ј13.99 a bottle instead of Ј18.99.
