I, for one, can't wait to taste the Temptryst rums. I may be behind the curve on that, but nevertheless...

I'll be there Monday - Monday, sitting next to the Robert Burrs, trying to copy their notes for the tasting competition.

7 days in New Orleans...something tells me my diet is going to be more than a little derailed...

I'll be tasting at the ministry competition, speaking, mixing, and much more.

You can find me at my seminar, "The Cocktail Garnish", on Jeff Berry's Potions panel, shaking at the Tiki Block Party, serving up some Pampero goodness at the Cocktail Hour, and otherwise just agreeably drunk. Also I can be found anywhere with beignets.

Be happy to accommodate you. I'm bringing a fair bit of extra rum for casual sampling.

Looking forward to meeting you. glass.gif

I can't bring any rum that y'all haven't tried, but I might be able to bring some notable bourbon that I've gotten to barrel-select.

Now that's something to look forward to, you'd have to have a brother-in-law in the business to find better bourbon than jparrot can find.

Maybe we can try to get together for a cocktail somewhere along the way. It would be great to meet more forum members.

Perhaps Wednesday night after the tasting ends (well after, so Ed can have a rest). Those of you who are funk/acid rock fans, Walter "Wolfman" Washington is playing d.b.a. that night at 10pm, and they've pretty much got the best booze selection in town. Not much for mixed drinks (at least when it's crowded), but insane selection and good prices.

I am staying in a condo on Frenchmen St, my most favoritest greatest street in the world. Will see many of you at tasting. I'm packing along my most recent barrel-proof 6yo, 7yo, and 15yo bourbons and 23yo rye (the 15yo and 23yo in plastic sample bottles--not much of that around), plus perhaps a sample bottle of Woods Navy Rum.

Jake,

You were there when we tasting all these rums in my suite, along with Dan, Carter and a few other MOR members. It was fun to taste these and others we found at the show.

Indeed I was (I had posted that query on Monday). The Darboussier was stellar.

Maybe I'm just too much of a whiskey man, but Agricole-style rhums are really on a different plane for my palate. Distilling proof matters!

Great week. Nice to have a lazy day before heading back.

Just a quick post to say what a pleasure it was to meet everyone and see some familiar faces again at the tasting. It's always a great time to be surrounded by like-minded individuals calmly and professionally getting shitfaced.

I look forward to welcoming all of you to Forbidden Island should you ever pass that way- please drop me a line if you're in town!

Cheers,
Martin

Martin - you said it, man. What a great time at Tales and it was great to finally meet you and every one else. My liver still hurts.

BTW - I got one of your green FI mugs last night from one of your regulars who is visiting here in NYC. Very nice design - it holds a Zombie very well, but unfortunately not for very long - you better work on that please.

Definitely have to get out to the west coast one of these days.

welcome leisure master.

Martin - the Burrs are already planning an expedition to Alameda.

Mark your calendar now for May 29-31 to be in Miami for our first annual Rum Renaissance festival. I'd like to tap you for hosting a seminar on tiki drinks.

It's all about rum... the continued resurgence and revitalization of premium rums. It's a renaissance! Bring some swords.

Robert - thanks for the welcome and it was nice to meet you at Tales - I believe we had a brief conversation at one point. It's all a bit hazy...

I will honor protocol and post something in the introductions thread...

Great to be here among people with good taste in spirits...
