I recently tried a bottle of Irish Whiskey and fell in love with it. Next to rum this is now my favorite spirit. Since trying the bottle of Tallamore Dew I have gone out and bought 5 other bottles of Irish Whiskey to start a decent selction in my cabinet. I quickly discovered that there are not nearly as many brands of Irish Whiskey as rum...oh well just meens my collection will be complete before my rum collection drool.gif

Gin: Bluecoat, very sippable!
Vodka: Ketel One (though whats the point?)
Scotch: Johnny Green Label (maybe one day Ill open my blue label)

Those may be the only 3 brands Ill drink if Im not being forced.

Was that Irish Tallamore or Tullamore? Just the Flannigan in me coming out here.

As you've discovered Irish Whisky, (also one of my favorites), you might enjoy a liquer named Celtic Crossing!

Cold beer and rum, that's it. I've also given up drinking wine as it gets warm too quickly and it looks silly with ice in it. I also don't have any more room for other spirits in my house. I'm trying to decide what to do with the few bottles of other sprits now, as I need the space for new rums and the Red Cross doesn't accept liquor!!!

I'll drink anything that isn't Jack Daniels. Jack has a bad effect on me.

Generally I like Grey Goose or Kettle One vodka, Tanqueray Gin, Crown Royal Whiskey, Sazerac Whiskey, and various beers and ciders.

If you ever have the chance check out the Midleton Very Rare Irish whiskey. It's my personal favourite and delicious.

I also enjoy sipping tequilas - the Arette Unique, Cuervo reserve da familia....

My next Irish Whiskey to try is Red Breast. Heard good reviews about this one.

Dood: Have you ever tried George Dickel #12...it runs circles around Jack...not even in the same league in my book.

You hit a soft spot Blue...Dickel #12 is a Damn good Tennessee Whiskey in my book.

I have not...I'll have to keep an eye out for that. I can't buy any alcohol until next week...when I'll be at Tales of the Cocktail filling a small shipping container with booze to send home. ;)

Redbreast is our Irish Whiskey of choice. It is complex and delicious, but no more accolades or the price will keep climbing.

We favored Bourbon and Rye before finding our favorite spirit, but never cared for JD. It was assumed that Jack was typical of Tennesee whiskey; we'll have to give the George Dickel a try. glass.gif

I love a taste of good whiskey or a single malt from time to time,drooling2.gif and there is always wine to accompany a meal, and a couple of choices in port. I also like Cognac quite a bit. I can not say that I have studied any of these in depth, I just order at random when I am out. It was interesting that some years back I was a scotch drinker, before all these wonderful scotches were so readily available, and there was very little rum in the land. I just enjoy a well made spirit.

I'll second that, but my definition of well made spirit may differ from others.

My first love was mezcal, second tequila. I have wandered through and maintane a deep appreciation for a very wide range of spirits outside of the rum family: grappa, calvados, cognac, a little vodka, and a wide range of whisky/whiskey.

But my big loves are in rum and mezcal.

I'm a big single malt fan especially whisky from Islay. Belong to a whisky club "Companions of the Quaich" http://www.thequaich.com/
that has tastings once a month. I also enjoy brandy/cognac, Port and all spirits that can accompany Parmagiano Reggiano.

I love that Don! What spirits in particular do you take with that exalted cheese from Emilia-Romagna?

Of course, Parma is also home to Prosciutto. Any pairings there to offer?

When I'm not enjoying a rum and ...... nevermind ;) I do also like Disaronno Amaretto, Jack Daniel's Single Barrel or Gentlemen Jack, Crown Royal, or any Margarita on the rocks with a "good" tequilla.

I'm in the "I like tasty things" camp. Readers of my blog (both of you) will notice that I review a lot more beer than rum, and, mostly for reasons of accessibility, and what I happen to have on hand, I have as many or more reviews of whiskey than rum (that, and I'm trying to save up a bunch of rum reviews for a big rum month). I just tasted my first rye tonight, and it was gorgeous. Old Overholt rye at $13 per bottle has got to be the most amazing bargain I have ever found. It tastes like a glass of mulled cider. I could just drink it all night long...
Cheers. - S
