I have read that Cruzan will be discontinuing distribution of thier 5yr. Dark Rum from their line up of products. I can't help but speculate on the following:

Either they are:

Changing their distillation process to produce different types of rum; maybe more 2yr. rum or flavored rum.

or-

They are keeping things the same, still producing the same marks in the distribution process, but instead, using the estate 5yr. marks, with a different aging process and blend sequence to produce a new premium rum product to rise above its single barrel offering ?

Any guesses Robert ?

Thanks,

Stan

With very little info from the company, I am inclined to believe they need time to build up their stores of aged rum. I have the impression it will return.

Ironically, it seems many people are waking up to awareness of this blend just as it's going away for a while. In the end, the reputation of ED may be enhanced.

With due credit to Dan Hicks (of Hot Licks and Charlatans fame), one would hope. :D

"How Can I Miss You" is the title of an early '70s song from Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks, with lyrical refrain "how can I miss you when you won't go away".
