Darn I will be in SoCal from the 19th to the 26th but will be flying out that morning...wish I could have made it. Hopefully I will be able to make next years. Regardless I will be stopping by to pick up a few hard to find rums. Hope to say hi to you, Forrest!

I wish I had known about this before I committed to be in Chicago this weekend, I'd like to meet the people attending almost as much as to taste some of these rums again, almost.
But the best part of this tasting is that you'll be able to go around the corner to Hi Times and buy almost everything you taste, which is a rare in this industry. On the other hand, if you're planning on buying some of your favorites, go early.

Thank you for the kind words Ed, we are sorry that you were previously committed also (but have fun, there will be others-- and you will always be an honored guest)!!
On the purchasing tip... there will be a 15% discount on everything the day of the tasting, which i am not sure if i have mentioned....

I think I am about to alter my travel plans. California isnt too much of a detour when heading south to Florida, is it?

Adam, it kills me to know someone is tasting fines rums without me. I hope you have the opportunity to be there. If not, there's still a lot of rum in South Florida.

Robert, you know that your presence will be felt there, and i will have one in your honor... i will let you choose which one even :)
I just wanted to say that this tasting was great! I had a wonderful time, tasted a lot of great rum, got to meet Forrest so that I actually knew who he was, and then gave him half of my life savings for my order. I couldn't pass up the savings! Plus, who really needs to eat EVERY day? ;)
Thanks for hosting the tasting Forrest. It was a blast.

Definitely next time. I was on a short schedule yesterday. I was at ComiCon in San Diego in the morning, the tasting in the afternoon, had a dinner appointment immediately thereafter, and then had tickets to see the Dark Knight in IMAX, followed by cocktails at my place and then sleep.
Had a blast though, and even ran in to a few people from Tales there and then in the store today (I needed Passion Fruit Liqueur and Sazerac Whiskey).

Damn if only I'd found this forum earlier I would have known about this. It's only about an hour away from where I was this summer, and would have proved to save me a lot of money slowly buying bottles of different things. Oh well, I'll have to try and make it next year.
