I found this cane cola today, is this the sugar cane coke that it was a thread about floating around somewhere, or was it a similar cola?

I don`t what to mix with it as i donґt like rum and coke..maybe i should just have it with some lime and ice ,it would be interesting to compare it to the standard coke.

Boylan's makes a very good product, though I find all of their flavors are just a little weak for me. I like a little bit more flavor. Jones Soda's Cream Soda, for instance, has a lot more flavor and kicks Boylan's butt - but Boylan's is still pretty darn good.

Their Ginger Ale is now what I drink, since it's the best I've found without taking a much bigger leap in ginger taste (which generally start to fall into the Ginger Beer category). However, I've yet to try a few others that I've heard about, like Vernon's, which are reputed to have a nice ginger bite to them. Alas, there are a few that I just can't find around here. Out of the 12-15 Ginger Ales I can get around here, Boylan's is the best, IMHO.

Two summers ago my better half and I spent a summer in Maine, USA and had the chance to sample a number of soft drinks sweetened with cane sugar as opposed to High Fructose Corn Syrup. This seemed to be the trend in upscale soft drinks. We agree that Boylans and Jones ( from the Tri-State area I believe) are well thought out and worth a try. Black Cherry and Raspberry translated well. Pour a float of a sweet rum on top and I'm not complaining about dessert.

I'm not a rum and coke fan, unless the coke is made with sugar cane sugar and then it's a whole different story.

In my first book I wrote that if you've never tried anything but rum and coke, I'm sorry. I'm going to update that statement in the next edition.

This probably isn't much help but I've enjoyed it with Flor de Cana 12 and 18 year old.

Appleton VX is also on my short list of rums I've enjoyed with cane cola.

I have to give Ed right..

I tried the Cane Cola first with some Havana Club blanco poured on top and it was real refreshing, and then i tried some Appleton White, also very nice. I still don`t like Rum and Coke but i like like Rum and Cane Cola.

Maybe too late, but I've found that Matusalem Gran Reserva makes a very nice "Rum & Coke"

I found Jones Soda (http://www.jonessoda.com) yesterday in Florida. Here's the link to their website. These products are made with inverted sugar (http://www.sugar.org/consumers/sweet_by_nature.asp?id=275). I was surprised that these sodas were competitively priced.

I have to say I quite like rum and coke.

I virtually never drink it when I am at home and have my full bar handy. I'd rather have a Daiquiri or an El Presidente or something. However, I find it a nice enough way to drink rum when in a bar that can't mix cocktails, or on holiday and picked up a bottle of rum I want to try.

It's an interesting drink to compare different rums in too.

I quite like Barbancourt with coke. It cuts through the coke nicely.

Barbancourt White, as well, seems to want to mix well with coke.

What is fu fu berries?

Tiare, 'fu fu' is lingo, a kind of a playful word to describe something that is frilly, excessively demure, or low on macho. The word is definitely playful in common vernacular.
In terms of the Fu Fu Berries Soda it is probably some sweet blending of a variety of berries with carbonation.
Here are a bunch of funny definitions of fu-fu. (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=fufu)

Costco here in the states sells Mexican Coke, which is made with cane sugar, as opposed to HFCS.

http://www.seriouseats.com/2007/05/costco-is-selling-mexican-coke.html
If you like the Real Thing better made with real sugar and you happen to live near a Costco, you'll be happy to know that they're selling Mexican Coke: $17.99 for a case of 24 twelve ounce bottles, which comes out to 75c each. How'd Costco manage that, you ask? According to SFist, they've "conformed to CA and U.S. rules, such as CRV (the sort-of deposit you pay for the bottle) and "nutrition" labeling, so everything appears to be nice and legal."

Coca-Cola Corporate in Atlanta says there is "no perceptible taste difference" between Mexican Coke made with real sugar and US Coke made with high-fructose corn syrup, but as anyone who's ever had the two can tell you, that's wishful thinking—drinks made with real sugar have a clean sweetness and light mouthfeel to them, while those made with corn syrup have heavy mouthfeel and a cloying sweetness.

Don't believe me? A commenter on Jason Perlow's post on Passover Coke (made in the US with real sugar for the holiday) said he'd brought back real sugar Coke from Nicaragua and did blind taste tests with friends and family: "We used purified ice, cold bottle cokes with Sugar & HFCS and a rinse of purified water between taste. EVERYONE - to a person - can taste a difference and all prefer the sugar! Nearly half of the people were very sceptical, and said it was in our heads. They said “I remember that taste”, and “WOW, that IS better!” [via YumSugar]

Yes, I buy Mexican Coke for that reason. I much prefer the taste. I usually buy it at the local Mexican grocery, but the next time I'm over at the Costco in Albany I'll look for it.

When we lived in Florida we could get Abita Springs root beer, made in Louisiana and also sweetend with sugar. Haven't seen than in OR.

I just picked up a single bottle of that Boylan Cane Cola at the market today in anticipation of seeing how well it mixes with rum. Just as I sought out a premium tonic water before to go with premium gin (as opposed to usual HFCS crap), I wanted a higher quality alternative to the standard Coke or Pepsi. I'm hoping to enjoy this bottle, and I'll let you guys know what I think of it when I get the chance to experiment with it.

I can tell you for certain it will be better than your standard Coca Cola Rum and Coke, unless of course, your coke is from Mexico in a glass bottle, then all bets are off.

That coke, my friend, makes a helluva rum and coke!
