Robert Hess mentioned Q Tonic, and premium tonic water in general, recently on his show The Cocktail Spirit. I am not entirely sure what makes something a premium tonic water versus an unpremium tonic water. To me, like soda and still water, tonic water is tonic water.

The answer is simple - price and perception.

Take a look at their site if interested in what Q Tonic is all about.

Has anyone tried it though?

I tried Q tonic at a great new cocktail bar called Apothecary here in Philly.

Its a $3 upcharge for your tonic drink. It lacks the sweetness that can be found in most commercial tonics. Its very dry and has a nice touch of lime. Its very mellow. After trying it, I craved gin, I think it would be perfectly complimentary.

Thanks Adam. I see it's popularity is increasing, but it's really expensive to buy online. Hopefully it will be in Whole Foods out here at some point. I would really like to try this tonic.

I like Ron del Barrilito 2 Star with tonic. I'd be happy to give this tonic a whirl. I don't see it coming to a theater near me anytime soon though. I'm going to put it in my "care package" list from my Stateside connection.

Tym, No WholeFoods or WildOats food stores in SoCal?

There are two near me but so far, the Q Tonic is only in a select east coast Whole Foods. I contacted them and they say it will get here at some point. I have to ask my local WF to order it and see what happens.

I did try the WF 365 canned tonic and was surprised. It was light and tasty. You can get it in 6-packs. About 2-3 drinks per can.
