It is interesting that the Governor would appeal to Pernod for stability of the only distillery in the Virgin Islands. Considering the growing popularity of rum I'd be very surprised if Pernod didn't spend some money growing Cruzan or at selling it off to a more interested third party.

Well, in some ways, seeing that the US VI was a former Dutch possession and now one of the USA, It's my guess that the Governor's knickers might be in a bit of a knot over La Belle France pulling the strings now. Maybe Cruzan itself is feeling vulnerable and asked for the "summit".

Besides, Springtime in Paris is great...Just like Sinatra sang.

The Virgin Islands was always one of my favorite places to be in the spring.

It's not so bad lolling about here in the Spanish Virgin Islands, I must admit.

The United States Virgin Islands were a Danish colony - not Dutch. I believe that the US acquired them about 100 years ago. I'm not sure what Denmark got in return:rolleyes:.

The US Virgin Islands were purchased from Denmark in 1917 for $25million in gold.

You are absolutely correct Berbician. I apologize for my mistake.

It must have been the group of Dutch ladies I encountered on the beach the other day that lead me to that slip.
