Gerard here, hailing (currently) from Milwaukee, WI - where we're STILL waiting for winter to truly leave and make room for some decent weather.

I also go by the name Bilgemunky in some circles, as I run both Bilgemunky.com and Bilgemunky Radio.

Rum is a long-time love of mine. I've not yet taken to the Cachacas and whatnot. My favorites include Goslings (Black Seal and Old Family), Mt. Gay Extra Old, Ron Pompero Anniversario, and Angostura 1824.

I just found out about the Chicago rum even coming up in June, and am hoping to make it!

Welcome to the rum forums. No doubt you'll be expanding your tastes as you read about the hundreds of great rums that are coming to a store near you.

A big welcome to you Bilgemunky. I recommend others checking out his site. Good to have a pirate among us!

I enjoy your site Bilge Monkey, and find your reviews both entertaining and quite frequently in alignment with my tastes. Yours was the first site I visited when I realized the full depths of my rum epiphany, and it guided me through the early days of mass acquisition. Thank you for your contribution to my continuing delinquency. And, let it be known, I have a wooden boat. Your presence here will be a unique and entertaining gift to the forum.

Aye - I was at Pirates in Paradise this past December, and was able to visit Pirate Soul in Key West. It's a brilliant little museum - not terribly large, but you can't beat the quality and atmosphere. Almost like a darkened cavern lined with ship parts and pirate relics!

When in Key West, also visit the little Rum Runners Bar at the SpeakEasy Inn at 1117 Duval. They've got a room full of cigars also. You can find me there on the first weekend of December each year, unless I owe you money, in which case I don't go there anymore.
