Welcome to the forum! i don`t know much about rums from Turks &Caicos but there are others here who will be able to help you.
All i can say is that there`s a rum called Cave Rum which is said to be good for making island rum punch, as well as one called Bambarra Rum.
And then of course you`ll be able to find many other rums as well.

We were in the Turks and Caicos on Provo this winter, and there was a lot of rum from other islands, but we were not able to find anything that was grown or distilled in the T&C. There were a few things bottled there, but I wasn't impressed with a label enough to try anything. These are very dry islands, almost desert-like, and agriculture is not a big industry on most of them - they may not be able to grow the cane. That is speculation, so if anyone has some better information, please share it. I'm really curious about it. On the bright side, the beaches were beautiful and the food was good, so we will probably go back. -Linda

I've heard the same. This past March a friend went to the T&C and brought me back a bottle of Goslings Gold. While there she noticed a lot of imported rum but very little domestic. One store mentioned to her that is because the T&C can't support a distillery.
At face value I tend to agree that the primary reason is the T&C climate is too dry and the island size is too small to grow enough sugar cane to support a distillery. I admit there could be other factors involved like politics, skilled labor shortages, or financial issues. Unfortunately for the T&C its probably geography and climate that hold them back.

We visited the T&C this past February. I tried the 'Cave Rum' bottled on T&C's - it was nothing special, the typical mixing rum. There are no distilleries on the islands, so there are just a few bottlers who buy rum from elsewhere in the Caribbean, bottle and slap their label on it.
However, with that said... there are some great buys, and great selection of rums from elsewhere available there. In the duty-free shops, I was able to pick up some Flor de Cana 12 &18 for good prices, as well as Appleton.
The ocean, weather, and beaches were all superb!! You'll have a great time!

We've been visiting the Turks and Caicos every few months for more than 20 years and have more than a hundred clients there. We've watched as the supply of rum has expanded from Barcelo and Barbancourt to a litany of brands from many islands. Appleton is well represented. Zacapa XO is available. Many rums from St. Lucia, Barbados, Venezuela, Trinidad, Guyana, Dominican Republic and Jamaica are there. It's a great place to buy good Cognac.
Discount Liquors is a good source.
Bob Davies on Providenciales has a web site named The Rumelier. (http://www.therumelier.com/)

Hi Robert,
good to hear from you again. I look forward to meeting you both next week. Hopefully we can have a glass or two of rum together. Not much new in stock, but finally got some El Dorado's in.
See you at the dock or in the store.
Bob
