RSS feeds are available from this forum but are not currently enabled. Please post your comments about RSS feeds here.

Would you like RSS feeds enabled?

Do you care about RSS feeds at this time?

Do you think RSS feeds are a waste of time?

Or are you patiently waiting for RSS feeds to be enabled on the Ministry of Rum forums?

I can see the value in them, although I've never used an RSS feed for a forum so I'm not sure exactly how they work in terms of the subscription. Do you subscribe to the forum as a whole or to individual discussions/threads?

The only way I can see RSS feeds for a forum, is by subscribing to a single thread but on vbulletin you can do that with e-mail anyway so I'm not sure what use RSS would be in a forum.

That, my friend, is a very good question, which I can't answer though it is my understanding that if enabled, members would be able to subscribe to individual threads. But, as Count Silvio points out, it is currently possible to have new posts sent to your email address, which accomplishes the same goal of being informed of new information about a topic.

The difference is that you would get more email and you'd have a record of it on your computer as opposed to having to be online to view new posts.

Assuming we had RSS feeds it would be good to have a few options for the feeds i.e.
Subscribe to a single thread
Subscribe to latest posts
Subscribe to posts in a certain forum

There are more options than I can adequately administer.

For me, i would rather just read the posts online than having my inbox filled with more e-mails when i still would log in here anyway....and i`m used to visit this site daily. So to me its not necessary.

I agree with Tiare.

I'm with Tiare and Jerry here but it can't hurt to have RSS feeds available for those who want.

A good point Count.

With RSS feeds on individual threads, you'd be able to monitor a thread without having to necessarily navigate to the site. While that might not be ideal for tracking site traffic, it allows you to use something like Google Reader to know when new posts are made in a thread, and not have your mailbox filled with "There has been a new post in a thread you subscribed to!!!" messages.

I use RSS for tracking about 120 blogs at the moment, and I could see using it for tracking some of my favorite threads here, as sometimes you may be away from the forums for a few days and when you come back, not all of the updated threads are still marked as new/updated.
